Ancestry is a complex, multifaceted concept. It’s genetics, culture, history, society, and politics.
Throughout the project “Human diversity along the Magalhães circum-navigation space: genetics, history and culture” a multidisciplinary exploration, including the involvement of designers and artists in a co-production process, allowed the development of educational and outreach materials.
The Ancestry Traveller offers several tools to the educational community to propel guided questioning triggering curiosity and discussions on fluid notions of human diversity. The main goals of these materials are to explore the values of multiculturalism and equality based on human diversity and to explain scientific principles underlying human population genetics.
