Public sessions: visits for high school students

JANUARY – APRIL

Schools can register for a guided visit to the exhibition “A Journey Through Human Genetic Diversity” in Porto, for high school students. These public sessions are coordinated by the i3S educational program, Ciência et al.

The exhibition runs from 16 January to 30 April 2024 in the i3S atrium and is open to the public. Secondary school students can benefit from guided tours by the project’s researchers, subject to registration.

The exhibition subject is more suitable for 10th and 11th graders. Since it explores the encounter between art and science, it could be interesting for students from other areas besides natural sciences, particularly art.

Inspired by Ferdinand Magellan’s circumnavigation 500 years ago, this exhibition is the culmination of a project on human diversity, interweaving history, genetics and culture. Like the tides that Magellan and his crew had to navigate, this exhibition will allow visitors to experience a journey full of surprises and challenges, integrating reliable scientific information with the vision of various artists.

REGISTRATION IS FREE BUT MANDATORY AT CIÊNCIA ET AL

The exhibit A Journey Through Human Genetic Diversity will be displayed at i3S between January 16th and April 30th, 2024, Monday through Sunday (10 am – 8 pm). Attendance is free of charge.
